A Two-Way Convergence of Industry and Research: Freetech × SJTU Pujiang Global College University-Enterprise Project Successfully Concluded

Recently, the graduation project program collaboratively undertaken by Freetech and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Pujiang Global College was successfully concluded. As a deep innovation in the university-enterprise collaboration model, Freetech not only provided financial support for the students but also opened up its frontline R&D resources, guiding students into real-world business scenarios that combined "cutting-edge exploration" with "mass production practice." This initiative not only demonstrates Freetech's comprehensive strategic layout in automated driving R&D, but also represents an important practice of the company actively fulfilling its social responsibility and promoting the deep integration of industry, academia, and research.

Freetech and SJTU Pujiang Global College University-Enterprise Meeting

This collaboration broke through the conventional format of university-enterprise interactions, with project topics directly targeting the core needs of intelligent driving assistance. The "AI-based Image Signal Processing (AI-ISP) Project" focused on future technology pipelines, exploring the infinite possibilities of AI-empowered image processing and other cutting-edge applications; while the "Intelligent Driving Assistance Bird's Eye View (BEV) Data Analysis Tool" was grounded in mass production practice, dedicated to improving data closed-loop efficiency and targeting the rapid iteration of intelligent driving solutions. This project mechanism, which emphasized both "looking up at the stars" and "feet firmly on the ground," enabled the theoretical insights of the university to be directly translated into actual industrial productivity, achieving a seamless integration of academic research and engineering implementation.

Haojin Zhu, Party Secretary and Distinguished Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Pujiang Global College, expressed his sincere gratitude to Freetech for providing SJTU students with a hands-on platform and cutting-edge projects. He noted that during the collaborative project development process, students benefited greatly from the attentive guidance and support of corporate mentors, which enabled them to apply classroom knowledge to real product development, gain practical training, and accumulate valuable hands-on experience. He expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation with Freetech going forward, leveraging SJTU's research platform to provide the company with cutting-edge technical support in fields such as artificial intelligence and intelligent driving.

Dr. Junqiang Shen, Chief Scientist of Freetech, spoke highly of the solid academic foundation and rigorous work ethic demonstrated by the SJTU students. He stated that the students' outstanding performance and deliverables far exceeded the company's expectations, and that the relevant technical results had been successfully applied to the company's actual mass-produced products. Looking ahead, Dr. Shen expressed his hope that the company and SJTU would further expand their collaboration across three key dimensions — talent cultivation, technology breakthroughs, and industrial project R&D — to promote the continuous evolution and advancement of intelligent driving assistance technology through the deep integration of industry, academia, and research.
