As automotive intelligent driving assistance approaches maturity, two-wheelers are poised to acquire their own keen "eyes" and smart "brains." On June 12, the "Intelligent Connected Motorcycle Industry Innovation and Development" technical seminar was held in Wuzhen, Tongxiang. Hosted by Zhejiang Automotive Industry Technological Innovation Association and Zhejiang Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation Center, the event gathered over 30 representatives from the government, OEMs, and core supply chain enterprises to discuss technical paths, industry synergy, and co-building standards for intelligent connected motorcycles. As a leading representative of mass production among China's automated intelligent driving brands, Dr. Shen Junqiang, Chief Scientist of Freetech, was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech.

A Hundred-Billion Blue Ocean: Explosive Motorcycle ADAS Market

As the global mobility industry is swept by waves of electrification and intelligence, motorcycles—serving as crucial carriers for urban short-distance commuting and recreational sports—are undergoing an irreversible shift toward intelligent connectivity.

In his speech, Dr. Shen Junqiang pointed out that China's motorcycle ADAS market is experiencing explosive growth. The market size reached approximately 5 billion RMB in 2024 and is projected to surpass 50 billion RMB by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25%. The core drivers behind this surge include tightening EU safety regulations, rising consumer safety awareness, mandatory ABS installation under new national standards, and the cross-domain application of automotive intelligent technologies to two-wheelers.

Technical Path: From Functional Integration to Platform Intelligence

The technical roadmap is evolving from single functions toward integrated and intelligent functions, with sensor fusion and algorithm optimization becoming the focus of competition, while cost reduction remains key to widespread adoption. Dr. Shen predicted that the penetration rate of L2 functions in mid-to-high-end motorcycle models will surpass the critical 30% threshold by 2026, and multi-sensor fusion architectures will become the mainstream after 2028.

Currently, Freetech has taken the lead in developing mass-production ADAS systems specifically for two-wheelers and has secured vehicle model nominations from OEMs, continuing to pioneer the industry's commercial deployment for two wheelers.

Domestic Substitution Window: Freetech's Strength and Role

In the automotive intelligent driving arena, Freetech has established partnerships with 55 OEMs, with over 330 projects entering the mass-production stage. In terms of L2 ADAS production installation volume, Freetech ranks as the preferred L2 driving assistance partner for numerous automakers, firmly securing the No.1 market share among domestic brand suppliers. This represents an outstanding achievement for "democratization of intelligent driving."

The company's full-stack intelligent driving technology and innovative engineering technologies are now being replicated in the two wheeler sector. Dr. Shen stated that within China's motorcycle ADAS market, outstanding suppliers represented by Freetech are seizing the "domestic substitution window." They are rising rapidly to become vital participants and builders of the industry ecosystem.

The Wuzhen Consensus: Prioritizing Standard Setting, Breaking Barriers Through Collaboration

During the panel discussion, representatives engaged in deep exchanges covering vehicle manufacturing, core components, intelligent perception, and IoV (Internet of Vehicles) platforms. A consensus is becoming clear among the representatives: the intelligent connected motorcycle industry is on the eve of an explosive growth, and standard-setting and supply chain synergy are the keys to breaking through barriers. Yang Aixi, Secretary-General of the Zhejiang Automotive Industry Technological Innovation Association and Director of the Zhejiang Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation Center, stated that his association and innovation center will fully leverage their platform advantages to accelerate the formulation of relevant group and industrial standards for intelligent connected motorcycles, while actively organizing precise matchmaking between upstream and downstream supply chain partners.

Looking ahead, Dr. Shen predicted that driven by policies, regulations, and industrial standardization, intelligent connected motorcycles will evolve through a three-stage progression: "hardware pre-installation, data driven iteration, and profitability from software." This will create two distinct engines of growth: regional expansion and export opportunities. Freetech will continue to play its role as a leader among China's domestic intelligent driving brands, working hand-in-hand with all industry stakeholders to help Zhejiang establish a leading edge in the new motorcycle intelligence arena, and collectively driving China's intelligent connected motorcycle industry into the fast lane.
